Lynne is a Costs Lawyer with over 17 years’ experience and prior to joining Shakespeare Martineau spent 10 years working as a sole practitioner, where she received instructions from solicitors acting for both Claimants and Defendants across a wide range of litigation. She has also worked for a major national law firm and two of the leading costs consultancies. Prior to discovering law, Lynne worked as a R&D scientist in industry.
Lynne deals with costs management and costs litigation, including advocacy, and advises on negotiations, technical issues and tactics, representing both paying and receiving parties. She also advises on general funding matters and solicitor-client costs.
Further experience and specialisms
Lynne’s expertise includes complex personal injury and clinical negligence claims, together with general civil and commercial litigation. In particular, Lynne has extensive experience in partnership disputes, professional negligence, property/land disputes, arbitration proceedings/tribunal and contentious probate claims. She has also advised on costs issues in the employment tribunal, judicial reviews, the Court of Appeal, has dealt with fee appeals in criminal cases and been instructed on solicitor-client disputes.
Lynne works for internal clients and has many years’ experience building relationships with external solicitor clients, ranging from large law firms to boutique firms. She has also undertaken work for litigants in person.
Lynne has been instructed to deal with costs in several complex civil and commercial matters involving linked proceedings, and has been instructed to deal with costs litigation in reported cases.
Outside the courtroom
Away from work Lynne hates the gym but loves the great outdoors. She loves long lunches with family and friends, and is an enthusiastic choral singer and accomplished pianist.
Lynne is also a governor of a specialist hospital NHS foundation trust.
