At a time when the UK automotive industry is subjected to declining sales of new vehicles, the used car market is now being subjected to considerable scrutiny in terms of the transparency surrounding the vehicle’s service history. The Advertising Standards Agency have ruled that dealers should disclose the full service history. There is debate as to whether consumers would prefer a vehicle that was owned privately or one that was owned by a fleet. Transparency is the key. However dealers and their funders need to prepare their defences to what could be a plethora of claims.
